Leaving MAS

Recently met some relatives and a lot of them were surprise with me leaving Malaysia Airlines (MAS), with all the great employee benefits it kind of shocked them. It created more questions in their heads when I told them that I really enjoyed working in the Malaysia airlines e-commerce team, this got them scratching their heads and asking “why the hell you left?” so I’m writing this post to explain on it.

In MAS I was the e-commerce analyst, that means I was basically the dude who gathers requirements and perform analysis for all the features added to the e-commerce engine but I always had this dream to build a product of my own but with my schedule in MAS and some agreement clauses I was not able to do something on my own thus the decision to leave came into my mind. I will have to say it is not an easy ride right now (micromanaging my finance like never before) but I’m enjoying the freedom to let my creative juices go wild and hope I will be able to create a solid product soon.

I might get back to working for somebody someday or even join back MAS, but right now even if I have to sacrifice a lot due to the financial constraints I have to say I’m really enjoying it and feel really alive.
